About Kaya and Luna

To be revised - Kaya is no longer with us.

Welcome to our photo blog! I'm Kaya, a two year old fawn Great Dane who lives in Australia. I have a sidekick (ok, sister) called Luna. Luna is a Great Dane too, coloured blue (the trendy name for grey) and one year old (nearly one and a half, she reminds me) and used to try and be a show dog. Now she does agility instead!

My special talent is modelling. I get lots of practice because our Mum is a dog photographer, so whenever she doesn't have other dogs to take photos of, she practices on us. I'm very talented at modelling and Luna is well, not quite so talented. She does try though.

We get to do lots of different things with our Mum and Dad - going to the beach is a definite favourite. We love sharing our many adventures with the world through our blog. Oh and we also love receiving comments - hope to hear from you soon!

What Happened to Our Beautiful Beach – Part II

Continuing on from the last post, this is the story of the rest of what happened on the day our beach looked terrible! The last post was mostly from the ocean side of our beach (the side that has waves) but there is also a calm side of the beach which is kind of where a river runs out of the land – apparently it’s called an estuary.

Anyway, this is what the calm side usually looks like (make sure you click for a larger version!). This was taken a few months ago…

And this is what it looked like today! See how muddy it is? This is from all the dirt washing down the river and out to sea. Not very nice!

Anyway since the sun was out and it was pretty hot, we decided we wanted to go for a swim anyway. It was nice and cool! Zephyr’s Dad threw in a big stick for us all to go and fetch…

Img_6897

We let Zephyr get it cos it was pretty big!

Img_6899

Our people decided that stick was too big for us, so they threw in this one for us instead! Ok the other was was definitely too wide.. but this one was waaay too long. Me and Luna had a go at it anyway. You’d think that with all the sticks lying around they’d be able to pick one for us the right size? I think they enjoyed watching us struggle! Mean!

Img_6907

FINALLY Zephyr’s Mum threw in a proper stick for us to fetch. Just the right size!

Img_6916

After we fetched it out, Zephyr ran up and down the little beach with it with me and Luna in hot pursuit! The people had to get out of the way pretty quickly!

Img_6923

Img_6925

I heard someone coming, so I climbed back up the bank to have a look…

Img_6936

Ooooh! A new friend! A new GREAT DANE friend!!

Img_6938

We found out her name is Harley, and she’s about the same age as me! She’s a BIG Dane and very fun to play with…

Img_6969

Img_6971

Not to be left out, Luna and Zephyr did some chasing in the dunes too…

Img_6978

Then I stalked Luna (my favourite thing to do!)…

Img_6964

I was so happy to see blue sky again and feel the sunshine. It’s been rainy for far too long! I don’t much like what happened to our beautiful beach but it’s still a super fun place to be, even when the water is brown and there is stuff lying around everywhere!

Img_6984

The best thing of all isn’t the beach though, it’s about having good friends to run, play, chase and have fun with – like my best buddy Zephyr!

Our beach! Our beautiful beach!

Img_6788_2

We arrived at our beach this morning after LOTS and lots of rain (so we were pretty hyper) only to find it like this!! There was STUFF all over the beach and the water was BROWN! It was so weird, Mum went back to the car to get her camera…

Img_6795

It was still raining up the other end of the beach, but blue sky was just starting to show at our end.

Img_6805

Dad and us had walked down the beach a bit, but when we saw Mum after getting her camera, we had to run over and say hello to her again!! Hehe Luna looks funny when she runs – look at those ears!

Img_6801

Oh waitup, I do too. Whoah I even have the tongue swingin in this one.

Img_6811

We spotted Zephyr! After him!

Img_6812

Got him! Me and Luna teamed up on him, girl power style!

Img_6819

It was so weird, the surf was brown from all the mud that washed down the river. And it smelled funny. Actually it smelt quite good, but I’ve been told I have a different opinion of what smells good to humans so it probably wouldn’t smell good to you!

Img_6823

Logs on the beach are fun! Me and Dad did some jumping…

Img_6825

Lots of weird, random stuff had washed up on the beach, probably from people’s backyards who live on the river!

Img_6833

Check this out! It was an entire park bench!!

Img_6844

Dad put it upright and he and Luna tested it out. Then Luna got distracted and tried to eat Dad’s sunnies. Youngsters these days… no concentration on the task at hand!

Img_6848

We decided that the park bench, despite having being washed down a river, out to sea, then up on a beach at high tide, was fine. So we all sat on it. Or tried to. Only Dad and Zephyr’s Dad fitted though, but us dogs tried anyway!

Img_6855

Luna and I found something good in a pile of sticks and branches. It smelled soooo good. But Mum and Dad made us come away from it! I think it was something that had died in the flood.

Img_6864

Amidst all the excitement, Zephyr had run off and was no where to be found! I think he must have found something that he didn’t want to share.

Img_6889

Can’t hide from me for long! I found him pretty easy. Isn’t he a handsome devil?
We have more photos from this day but Mum is going to do another post with them soon. We hope you like our new blog! Make sure you remember where it is, and come back soon!

Love Kaya and Luna xxxooo

Arabella - Wow! I found YOU! You can't hide from me for long - looks like you had a great day with all that washed up junk. My mom really likes your bench - its very classy. I'm going to miss you at photoblog but I'm sure you'll make your new home very spiffy. Licks, Arabella

Arabella - I'm back. I forgot to wish you a Happy Valentines Day so Happy Valentines Day!! Oh and look!!! You have a link to me!! You guys are the best! I'll come back soon - have a great day, Arabella

Deven - Thanks for the great new site!

ellie - Can't seem to get enough of you and Luna. Great pics. And great; now I'm addicted to Arabella blog too. I'm from Lexington Ky, which is just down the highway a little from Louisville (80 miles?). Anyway, love you guys!

Abbey - Afraid Coffs Harbour looks the same, all seaweed and logs...Its made a great place for Chels to explore.. She's not confident with the water like your guys are though

Arabella - I didn't know there was anyone addicted to my bog! I don't think she ever comments though and I've actually been to where she lives.

Sharon Ollerton - Certainly looked like an interesting day at the beach with lots new things to explore! Cool bench you found :)

Beth - Your previous blog was one of the joys of my day...then the postings dropped off, and I was very sad! Your new site here is fabulous, well worth the wait!!! We are under lots of snow here in Chicago, so I really enjoy seeing your sunny days at the beach. The dogs are beautiful as always, and the commentary is laugh-out-loud (my husband can always tell when I am looking at your pix)! Thanks for taking the time to share your wit and gorgeous dogs! I only wish that I could bring my Goldens for a play date at the beach!!!

The end or the beginning?

This is the first post of our new blog – which means if you have started at the newest one and worked backwards – it’s the last post! Whoah, confusing huh.
