About Kaya and Luna

To be revised - Kaya is no longer with us.

Welcome to our photo blog! I'm Kaya, a two year old fawn Great Dane who lives in Australia. I have a sidekick (ok, sister) called Luna. Luna is a Great Dane too, coloured blue (the trendy name for grey) and one year old (nearly one and a half, she reminds me) and used to try and be a show dog. Now she does agility instead!

My special talent is modelling. I get lots of practice because our Mum is a dog photographer, so whenever she doesn't have other dogs to take photos of, she practices on us. I'm very talented at modelling and Luna is well, not quite so talented. She does try though.

We get to do lots of different things with our Mum and Dad - going to the beach is a definite favourite. We love sharing our many adventures with the world through our blog. Oh and we also love receiving comments - hope to hear from you soon!

What Happened to Our Beautiful Beach – Part II

Continuing on from the last post, this is the story of the rest of what happened on the day our beach looked terrible! The last post was mostly from the ocean side of our beach (the side that has waves) but there is also a calm side of the beach which is kind of where a river runs out of the land – apparently it’s called an estuary.

Anyway, this is what the calm side usually looks like (make sure you click for a larger version!). This was taken a few months ago…

And this is what it looked like today! See how muddy it is? This is from all the dirt washing down the river and out to sea. Not very nice!

Anyway since the sun was out and it was pretty hot, we decided we wanted to go for a swim anyway. It was nice and cool! Zephyr’s Dad threw in a big stick for us all to go and fetch…

We let Zephyr get it cos it was pretty big!

Our people decided that stick was too big for us, so they threw in this one for us instead! Ok the other was was definitely too wide.. but this one was waaay too long. Me and Luna had a go at it anyway. You’d think that with all the sticks lying around they’d be able to pick one for us the right size? I think they enjoyed watching us struggle! Mean!

FINALLY Zephyr’s Mum threw in a proper stick for us to fetch. Just the right size!

Img_6916

After we fetched it out, Zephyr ran up and down the little beach with it with me and Luna in hot pursuit! The people had to get out of the way pretty quickly!

I heard someone coming, so I climbed back up the bank to have a look…

Img_6936

Ooooh! A new friend! A new GREAT DANE friend!!

Img_6938

We found out her name is Harley, and she’s about the same age as me! She’s a BIG Dane and very fun to play with…

Img_6971

Not to be left out, Luna and Zephyr did some chasing in the dunes too…

Img_6978

Then I stalked Luna (my favourite thing to do!)…

I was so happy to see blue sky again and feel the sunshine. It’s been rainy for far too long! I don’t much like what happened to our beautiful beach but it’s still a super fun place to be, even when the water is brown and there is stuff lying around everywhere!

The best thing of all isn’t the beach though, it’s about having good friends to run, play, chase and have fun with – like my best buddy Zephyr!
