About Kaya and Luna

To be revised - Kaya is no longer with us.

Welcome to our photo blog! I'm Kaya, a two year old fawn Great Dane who lives in Australia. I have a sidekick (ok, sister) called Luna. Luna is a Great Dane too, coloured blue (the trendy name for grey) and one year old (nearly one and a half, she reminds me) and used to try and be a show dog. Now she does agility instead!

My special talent is modelling. I get lots of practice because our Mum is a dog photographer, so whenever she doesn't have other dogs to take photos of, she practices on us. I'm very talented at modelling and Luna is well, not quite so talented. She does try though.

We get to do lots of different things with our Mum and Dad - going to the beach is a definite favourite. We love sharing our many adventures with the world through our blog. Oh and we also love receiving comments - hope to hear from you soon!

An Adventure with Mum

Very early this morning Dad and Luna drove off in the van, Mum said that they would be gone all day and we should do something special, just me and her! Just like old times! I was all up for that.

We decided to go for a drive in the mountains to try and find somewhere interesting. Mum put my red bed in the back of the Jeep…

Img_5513

It fits in perfectly! There is just the right amount of room in the Jeep for just me, but when Luna gets it too it gets a bit crowded and we sit on each other and get annoyed. So I was glad it was just me this time!

We drove to the mountains and went around lots of windy roads and up and down steep hills. Mum said she’d like us to live out that way someday. This is one of the roads we went on…

Img_5519

I was a good girl in the back. I got up whenever we stopped but mostly I just lay down and looked out the window.

Img_5524

We finally found what looked like a good place to stop for a look. It was a nice green paddock next to some horses and cows. They were pretty interesting but I found something even better!

Img_5527

It was a creek! A cute little babbling creek. It was so pretty!

Img_5532

It was SUCH a good place to explore. So many cool new things to smell!

Img_5544

I saw some even cooler looking stuff on the other side of the creek!

Img_5553

So I decided to cross…

Img_5557

Ooh! It was a bit cold! Not nearly as warm as the water at the beach. Mum says that’s because it comes down from the mountains.

It was really rocky under the water so I had to concentrate hard to keep my balance…

Img_5558

Yay! Made it to the other side…

Img_5560

I walked up the other side a bit until I found a little waterfall…

Img_5573

I was going to try and cross back here but the water was going pretty fast and I didn’t want to fall over! That would just be embarrassing!

Img_5575

I went back down further and crossed back.

Img_5577

But there was a deep bit!

Img_5600

It’s cool, I know how to swim! I went in anyway and had a drink while I was there. Mmmm the water was so fresh and cool! Much better than the garden tap water at home even!

Img_5603

Then it was time for us to go – lucky Mum brought a towel cos I got pretty wet! I had a fun time with Mum, we should do this stuff more often! I think she agrees. Now, how to get rid of Dad and Luna for a day again…..?

Lisa - It looks lovely up there! Glad you had a good day with the just the two of you.

Tammy - I randomly ran across your blog, as is usually the case in blogland, and fell in love with these sweet pups! Me and my husband have one Great Dane and have vowed to always own at least one, hopefully two, for the rest of our lives. Thanks for sharing these amazing pictures!!

Arabella - Hey Kaya, What a wonderful day you had at the river. Those rocks must have been slippery. Catch up with you again soon. Arabelly

Photoshoot at the Beach

Today we went to the beach, as usual for a Saturday morning, but this time we met Mum’s friend Catherine there for a photoshoot! Mum needs some photos of her and us doggies cos she is going to be in the newspaper again soon for her doggy photography stuff.

We did a bit of practice posting to start off with, just for Mum’s camera…

Img_5489

When we met up with Catherine, first of all Mum wanted a photo of just me and her – yay! I think that means Mum loves me more. I did hear her and Catherine discussing something about ‘testing the light’ but I think that was unrelated.

Img_5284

Next we both did some posing with Mum…

Img_5301 Img_5319

Then it was time for all of us to pose together (that means Dad too) but there were so many other things to smell and see, we didn’t want to co-operate!

Img_5411

We eventually decided we better just get it over with, the sooner we got a good shot, the sooner we could go off and play!

Img_5431

All done! Time to play!

Arabella - Hey Guys!! I'm amazed at all the new entries you put up and very excited for the article about Dog Photography - you'll have to share it with us. It is very spring like here in Kentucky but I'm afraid when we moved to Minnesota it will be winter again. Sad. Lovely family pictures. Puppy kisses, Arabella

Bella - Wow - those photos are all amazing! I love the family portrait!! Amazing!!

Chara Michele - Oh some wonderful shots of your whole family! So lovely!

Kitchen Comparisons

Luna is getting taller every day, slowing down a bit now that she’s nearly 8 months old, but still catching me up! Mum did a sneaky comparison shot today while we were eyeing off some treats that Dad had (the second pic is of us going for a catch!).
