About Kaya and Luna

To be revised - Kaya is no longer with us.

Welcome to our photo blog! I'm Kaya, a two year old fawn Great Dane who lives in Australia. I have a sidekick (ok, sister) called Luna. Luna is a Great Dane too, coloured blue (the trendy name for grey) and one year old (nearly one and a half, she reminds me) and used to try and be a show dog. Now she does agility instead!

My special talent is modelling. I get lots of practice because our Mum is a dog photographer, so whenever she doesn't have other dogs to take photos of, she practices on us. I'm very talented at modelling and Luna is well, not quite so talented. She does try though.

We get to do lots of different things with our Mum and Dad - going to the beach is a definite favourite. We love sharing our many adventures with the world through our blog. Oh and we also love receiving comments - hope to hear from you soon!

Happy Birthday to Mum!

Today was our Mum’s birthday! She wouldn’t say how old she is in people years but she did say that if she was a doggy, she would be nearly 4! Gee she’s not really that old when you put it like that!

Anyway my favourite person in the whole wide world (well, apart from Mum and Dad of course) came to visit – GRANDMA! We luurrrve Grandma. And it was nice for Mum to have her Mum around on her birthday too.

Here’s some piccies of us with Grandma…

And then of course I had to have my own photoshoot with Grandma (because I am her favourite of course, shhh, don’t tell Luna!).

Wordgrrl - Happy Birthday, Charlotte! I hope you had a lovely day! :) Heather in Minnesota

Have you been stalking us?

Well, we have now made it easier for you!

Mum is a bit slack with updating our blog sometimes, she says it’s something to do with having to ‘work’ but as far as I can see she just stares at a big screen all day and taps at the white things on her desk. I wouldn’t exactly call that ‘work’!

Anyways, she’s found a new way to keep you all updated on our latest adventures and daily activities, without having do put together a proper blog post! It’s called Twitter, which is kind of weird cos that’s the noise that birdies make and we certainly aren’t birds. I reckon it should be called ‘woof’!

You don’t have to do anything except cast your eyes over to the right of the screen – you are instantly updated with my fun adventures and amusing views on life. Mum did try and add one for Luna too but it seems we can only have one at a time, so of course being the superior comedic genius and photographic model extraordinaire, looks like the task rests on my shoulders.

Enjoy!!

Arabella - Awesome Guys! I love twitter, look forward to seeing you there. (I think you can have more than one twit client open if you download a program like Twitterific)

Rosalynne - I love your blog. I now have it on my blog as a link. The new Twitter function is great!! Keep up the great work!

Mum has been cheating on us!!!

Well finally today we got PROOF that Mum’s been doing the dirty on her two favourite, faithful companions (me and Luna of course). It all fits together now – the long hours away in the afternoons when she arrives back home smelling… different. Not bad, just different, in a distinctly animalistic kind of way.

Well tonight, we discovered some PHOTO EVIDENCE on her computer!

So behold, Mum canoodling with the culprit!!

Update: Ok, so Mum has informed us that we have nothing to worry about. At first we thought he was some kind of overgrown Great Dane that let Mum ride him (how could we ever compete with that??) but Mum assures us he is a different species. A horse in fact. So, since he’s not a doggy like us, technically she’s not actually cheating on us. Phew!

So a bit about ‘the horse’. His name is ‘Rocky’ and he’s a ‘thoroughbred’ (kind of like us, we are ‘thoroughbred’ Great Danes), he’s 13 years old (wow! old!) and he’s 15.3 hands high. Whatever that means. He used to be a racing horsey (again, kind of like me, I race other doggies at the beach) and he is from New Zealand! Which is apparently some cold, small little country overseas somewhere.

Mum says that one day we will get to meet him in person! Uh… horse… dog.. let me try again… one day we get to meet him for real! I hope he likes us and doesn’t try and stomp on us with those big hard looking feets.

Anyways we are a bit excited, a bit envious, but a LOT relieved! Mum still loves us, yay!

Arabella - That's some cool horse, you must be very exited to meet him. I get to see horses every once and a while when we go trail hiking, they're really big. Bigger even than great danes.

Emilee - You girls must tell your mum that I'm jealous! The horse I used to ride just moved somewhere else, and I'm absolutely heartbroken. I'd do anything to jump back on one right now. I hope you have fun meeting Rocky!

Chris - My horse is only 14.2 hands, cause she's a quarter horse. But she would LOVE you puppies! She loves the ones she lives with at least. Yea for horseys and puppies!

Oh the injustice! (by Luna)

Life is just sooooo not fair at the moment. My toe is almost better, but something weird is happening to me now! I feel all kind of, loving, and bits of me have swollen up and started leaking. Help!

I’m not allowed outside unless someone is watching me – no idea what all that’s about – PLUS now I have to wear pants! I can tolerate a jacket, that’s fine, but PANTS!?! Mum and Dad said they are to stop me leaking all over the place and that it’s either that or me getting locked in the laundry all day. I guess the pants are better than that.

And to top it all off, Kaya goes and posts embarrassing pictures of me for all the world to see!! Gee thanks loving sister Kaya.

Mum and Dad did try and explain it all to me, but it makes no sense whatsoever. Why would I want to do that with boy doggies? And as if I’d want to have puppies? I’m only a little puppy myself! How preposterous.

Hrummpph. NO FAIR.

Connie - have yer mum get you some ice cream and a chick flick. you'll feel better after a good cry.

Kristen - Awww, poor Luna. The expression on your face says it all.

Cherl - Truly I am not a stalker but the babes are so cute I come by mulitple times a day just to gaze at them! They are soo beautiful! I have a dobie and would love a dane. I dont think I have seen ones as beautiful in the U.S.
