About Kaya and Luna

To be revised - Kaya is no longer with us.

Welcome to our photo blog! I'm Kaya, a two year old fawn Great Dane who lives in Australia. I have a sidekick (ok, sister) called Luna. Luna is a Great Dane too, coloured blue (the trendy name for grey) and one year old (nearly one and a half, she reminds me) and used to try and be a show dog. Now she does agility instead!

My special talent is modelling. I get lots of practice because our Mum is a dog photographer, so whenever she doesn't have other dogs to take photos of, she practices on us. I'm very talented at modelling and Luna is well, not quite so talented. She does try though.

We get to do lots of different things with our Mum and Dad - going to the beach is a definite favourite. We love sharing our many adventures with the world through our blog. Oh and we also love receiving comments - hope to hear from you soon!

Leah - All of your photos are so crisp and clear and bright, what camera do you use? Right now I have a Canon Rebel, but the flash is too bright for any sort of inside photography.

Honey the Great Dane - Oooh, you look so comfy, Kaya! Wish my humans allowed me on the sofa...although I do have a HUGE beanbag Love, Honey the Great Dane (from NZ)

Ahliah - Honey, that is seriously wrong! We as Great Danes must be allowed on any couch in the house and the dry nose beds. Anyfing else is just plain wrong! Hey Kaya, good technique! :) Ahliah

Animal Action Day!

Wow did we get a lot of action too! It was an event held at one of our awesome off-lead doggy parks, right on the water so we could pop in for a swim whenever it got too hot!

When we arrived we had to stay in the car for ages while Mum and Dad set the tent up cos there were other cars driving around and they didn’t want us to get run over. Ha! As if, surely people would see us, we’re not exactly little.

We set up our tent next to some of Mum’s friends – they have Beagle dogs (who we’d met before) and a little Pug! Their stalls were selling doggy accessories and clothing, but none of it big enough to fit us, how rude! The end stall was selling doggy art and collars. We are getting some doggy art done of us soon, we can’t wait!

For most of the day me and Luna kicked around and played with all the other doggies who came to visit, and got lots of pats and hugs from people! I think they liked us.

Mum went in a ‘doggy and owner lookalike competition’ with Luna, and they came second! Only cos Mum was wearing the same colour top as Luna though.

One of the best bits of the day was when our neighbours gave us some yummy pigs ears to eat! We both sat down on our bed and munched away.

Luna is a massive pig and finished hers in about 2 minutes, so pretty soon there were only crumbs left.

Img_3362

I took longer and spent some time savoring the taste and texture of the pigs ear. I consider myself a bit of a pigs ear connoisseur – we don’t get them much and when we do, I like to make them last!

Img_3357

We soon realised that there were a lot more pigs ears in the stall next door, so we spent most of the rest of the day sneaking over there and wandering around suggestively near them. Didn’t work though, so I stationed myself in front of them and guarded them. If we couldn’t have them, no one could!

Mum wanted a photo of her stall and since I was off socialising and guarding the pigs ears, Luna got to pose with her.

To be honest, good as it was, by the end of the day I was pretty pooped and struck up camp underneath the table until it was time to pack up (after which I got an extra burst of energy and decided to go for a swim right before jumping in the van to leave – oops!)

P.S. Some of you asked what we were looking at in the last post, well it was nothing too exciting (by your standards), just cheese! As much as we love our squeaky toys, cheese beats toys EVERY time.

Flashback – Puppy Preschool!

Mum was looking through some old videos of us and found some from when I went to puppy preschool! I can’t remember it super well but I do know I was just 10 weeks old, and a LOT bigger than the other puppies. My best friend there was a little Chihuahua cross called Yega, you’ll see him beating me up in the video!

Anyways, enjoy the video! (click here to go to YouTube and watch in high quality, much nicer)
