The Adventures of Miss Luna bio picture

About Kaya and Luna

To be revised - Kaya is no longer with us.

Welcome to our photo blog! I'm Kaya, a two year old fawn Great Dane who lives in Australia. I have a sidekick (ok, sister) called Luna. Luna is a Great Dane too, coloured blue (the trendy name for grey) and one year old (nearly one and a half, she reminds me) and used to try and be a show dog. Now she does agility instead!

My special talent is modelling. I get lots of practice because our Mum is a dog photographer, so whenever she doesn't have other dogs to take photos of, she practices on us. I'm very talented at modelling and Luna is well, not quite so talented. She does try though.

We get to do lots of different things with our Mum and Dad - going to the beach is a definite favourite. We love sharing our many adventures with the world through our blog. Oh and we also love receiving comments - hope to hear from you soon!

Environmental Activist

I don’t really understand why humans cut grass down really low. What’s the point? Long grass is so lucious, sometimes tasty and always fun to roll around in! I hate it when my people cut our grass, so I make sure I make a stand so they know just how I feel about it.

I heard Mum saying I would be a good ‘environmental activist’. Apparently they tie themselves to trees that are going to be cut down so people leave the trees alone. It’s a bit hard for me to do that as I don’t have thumbs. And they also lie in front of big machines so they can’t go anywhere. A bit like me lying in front of the grass cutting machine in our front yard. Yep, I think that title suits me nicely – “Kaya – Professional Dog Model Extraordinnaire and Environmental Activist”.

After all that though, Mum still made me move so she could mow my last little bit of remaining grass. She stole my squeaky chicken and bribed me with it, how unfair. I wonder if human Environmental Activists have to deal with that kind of thing.

Karen Bennett - Hi guys! Boxen and Bella love to do this also! You should start a keep the grass tall group!

Ahliah - What's all the green schtuff??? Ahliah

Charlotte Reeves - Ahliah - you don't have any green grass down there at the moment? You poor thing! Kaya and Luna sympathise and offer to send you some of theirs, they have enough of it at the moment! Hopefully you will get some rain soon. Rain means water falling out of the sky - pretty cool - not sure if you remember that either! kisses and licks from Kaya and Luna to you and Vanilla xxoo

Water Babies

You might remember our friend Maple from a post a while ago from when we first met her. We have seen Maple a couple of times since, but this time we went for a trip to the beach and found out we have a lot more in common than we first thought.

Just because we went to the beach with Maple and her Mum and Dad, didn’t mean we could forget our manners. We had to stay in the car and wait until Dad said ‘OK’ (after which we raced off like lunatics – not pictured).

After we got to the beach we were straight into the water!

2009-01-04-0005

Luna and I decided to show off a little and got stuck into fetching sticks.

Turns out Miss Maple had a few tricks of her own!

2009-01-04-0014

This water baby has really awesome hair, it’s longer than ours and almost turns into silk in the water, very cool!

Plus, she not only swims, she DIVES! Her Dad shows her where to go…

2009-01-04-0025

And next thing, she’s underwater!

2009-01-04-0029

Pretty amazing huh! A trick we need to practice I think!

Luna tried to draw some attention by doing her statue impersonation.

Not to be totally out-done, I thought I better dig one of my famous holes. The wetter, the better!

Maple just keep fetching stuff from the water. Her parents found a plastic shovel. She fetched it from the deep water, even in waves from passing boats! This girl is like a fish in the water.

Dad jumped in for a swim so we had to follow him of course.

While Maple decided she had had enough, and went for a run along the beach to dry off.

We had a great time at the beach with Maple! She’s a real water baby, just like us. I hope she gets to visit again soon!
