Ana from Portugal is one of Kaya and Luna’s biggest fans. Today she sent me a link to a gorgeous tribute she made for Kaya from a selection of images I’ve taken of her. Set to some beautiful music, it really is a tear jerker, but I just love it. Thank you Ana.

- Great heavens, I lost it at the first frame, pull out a towel - I almost had the ugly cry going! How very sweet and moving, Ana, you did a wonderful job.(great music!) Charlotte, it must have been hard to see this, thank you for sharing it. Dogs give such unconditional love, not only have you captured it in frame, your girls have captured our hearts at my house! Much love - Rosalynne (and her pups)

- Wow! That was just beautiful and yes heart wrenching. I think I cried before I hit play. Kaya is such a beautiful girl that was so loved by not only her Mom and Dad but also by us out here in computer land that you so lovingly shared her with. Ana, that was a beautiful tribute... Charlotte thank you again for sharing your family.
- This is crazy! I never properly even met Miss Kaya and her family...and here I sit, sobbing again! Ever since that "Puppy of the Day" photo, I was hooked! But Kaya did "choose love", every single day of her life! Looking deep into those amber eyes, I just know that she knew how much she was loved back by all who knew her. I will take the "paw it forward" advice...thanks, again, for sharing her with us, Charlotte (and deep gratitude to Ana, for this stirring, wrenching tribute)!
- Hi, this is the hills are alive from flickr...just want to say I was really moved by the video. What a fabulous presentation of your pix, and lovely, lovely dogs.
Old Photos
Mum was looking through some photos and came across some ones she had taken with a different kind of camera, when I was about six months old. A very old camera – so old, it doesn’t even plug into the computer and uses something called ‘film’!
I think the pics are a bit strange, they’re fuzzy and kinda brown and just show me sleeping. But I guess they are cool. Even if just because of the subject matter (me).

- I LOVE this art set. Just gorgeous finish Char!! We love Kaya!! Bossy Boy and Spot Mang send their love and licks.
- Hi guys - can you believe it? I kept looking at your feed and wondering why you hadn't posted anything new...and then today I realised that actually, the feed still had the address of your old blog! Grrr! No wonder nothing was changing! Anyway, I have now changed it so hopefully, I will be more up to date with what's happening with you! Hey listen - I wanted especially to tell you - today is my big photoshoot with Rachael Hale!! Your human may have heard of her - she is an animal portrait photographer and she has taken lots of pictures of dogs and cats and other animals and put them in books and on cards. She is working on a new book and asked me to model for some photos - am so flattered! :) Come over to my blog and see me primping for the shoot! hee! Hee! Slobbers, Honey the Great Dane
- Charlotte, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Kaya. I have followed her and her sister for a couple of years and I loved her dearly also. You and Kaya had a beautiful bond and I appreciate all the beautiful photography. My blue Great Dane Girl Miss Katie is now 7 and will be 8 years old next month and we offer our condolences to you all. Hugs to you and your husband and Luna. Be well and I w`ill continue to watch Luna. Love, Elizabeth
Luna’s Getting Sprayed
I knew today was some kind of special day as soon as Mum called Luna in to have cuddles on the bed. This usually only happens on weekends! And today definitely isn’t a weekend. Then after we all got up, Luna got more special cuddles from Dad (who I don’t think was actually properly awake yet).

Not to be left out, I made sure I got special cuddles too.

Mum explained to me that today was a special day cos Luna was getting sprayed. We were going to go for a long drive up to the city and we had to leave her at the vet place all day, and pick her up again tonight.
The bit I don’t understand is, why does she have to go all the way up there to get sprayed? Mum and Dad spray us all the time with the hose in the front yard. I guess it must be some kind of special spray.
I kinda hoped that it was all some kind of joke and that we were actually just going to the beach (you can get sprayed there too with the waves!), but nope, we headed in totally the wrong direction.

When we got there, we both had to stand on a measuring platform kinda thing to see how heavy we were. I thought I would be way heavier cos I am heaps taller, but I was only 53 kilograms! Luna the little fatty was 50 kg! After that, Luna went into a little room where they did strange things to her (glad I wasn’t her when they stuck that thing up her bum – ewww!) and then Mum took her out the back with the nice lady and then came back without her.
That was it! Luna was gone!
On the way home, we stopped for some breakfast for Dad. I was a bit sad cos Luna was gone, so he gave me some of his muffin. I thought I better bung on the sad and upset show for a bit longer and politely declined.

But I made sure I kept a close eye on it so I could eat it when I got home.

So that’s it so far – now I’m at home, Mum is about to go to work, and later on we are going to pick up Luna from the spraying place (I hope she won’t be too wet).
EDIT: Ok Mum just informed me that I got it wrong – the word is “SPEY” not “SPRAY”. Oops! So apparently it’s nothing to do with getting wet with water, and more to do with something that happened to me a while ago.
- Woohooo, I likez getting sprayed! I chase the water spraying snake all over the front lawn. Oh, spey not spray, youz sure? Thatz not nize. Had that done to me as well, hope Luni bounce back as well quickly az I didz, I wuz reedy to play the very next day but the humnz kept me in my crate... Licks and leanz Ahli
- Ohh no poor Luna, I think it is cute how Kaya accompanies her to the Vet, for morale support. I hope it goes well and she recovers soon, I have been lurking and not commenting ;), I love the new blog and larger photos of the girls. The hubster aint bad looking either!
- We hopz Luna gets to feeling bettrz soon! Don't be of worrying Luna, yur sissy will be back! Kirby, Kaley, & Ronnie
- I thought my boys were big at 96lbs and 87lbs (43kg and 39kg), but goodness girls, you are mighty grand, aren't you?! I must say, however, you certainly hide your weight beautifully in those sleek bodies. Hugs and kisses for a speedy recovery "little" Luna. Tuk & Jack's Mom, Susan
Happy 1st Birthday Luna! (Part Two)
Hi again! Luna and Kaya’s Mum, Charlotte here.
It’s Luna’s first birthday today and this is the second in a two-part birthday present blog post for my baby girl. Unfortunately I can’t be with her today and I am no doubt missing her (and Kaya of course) very much by now!
Continuing on Luna’s first year pictorial journey (this is starting to sound a bit like ‘This is Your Life’ isn’t it!)…
Looking rather guilty for some reason, I think it was something to do with digging holes in a muddy front lawn…
Testing the limits of Kaya’s patience!
Some more favourite shots showing it’s not always the face that shows a dog’s character…
Luna with Spot…
Getting taller!
Best friends forever…
Posing for a photo for the newspaper with Kaya and Mum…
Terrorising Kaya…
Winners! Luna 7 months here…
Standing pretty at 8 months…
Still giving Kaya a hard time…
But also following closely in her footsteps…
Chicken, what chicken?
Rugging up for winter…
Styling it up in Kaya’s hand-me-down winter jacket…
Being clever with Kaya, 10 months old…
Posing at the beach with Kaya (just before breaking a toe)…
Laid up with a broken toe (complete with oversized bandage)…
Looking very grown up at 11 months…
Becoming a woman-dog, and not very happy about it…
Getting cuddles from Mum…
Luna I’m so sorry I can’t be with your on your very first birthday. Dad will give you big cuddles from me and you will get even more big cuddles when I get back! I hope you aren’t missing me too much and are both being good girls for Dad.
You slotted into our little family just so easily. We originally thought you were the boss, but over time we’ve learned that you only pretend to be big and tough and you actually follow Kaya around like she’s your idol. Kaya pretends to let you be boss, just cos that’s the kind of doggy she is!
You are serious, funny, silly, easily amused and always want to please us. You are so sweet with little doggies and yet stand your ground and don’t take cheek from the bigger dominant ones. You are always full of energy, bold and athletic, but also a little bit clumsy!
We love you just the way you are and I’m looking forward to spending lots more birthdays with you in the years to come. Big kisses!!! Love, Mum.
- Happy Birthday! I've enjoyed watching you grow!
- I think its wonderful how well Luna and Kaya play and have fun! You two always make my day!
- I just loved revisiting all the photos of beautiful baby Luna growing up. Happy birthday sweet girl! I love this blog!!
- Happy Birthday Luna!!! from Kirby, Kaley, and Ronnie ;)
- As your stalker and #1 fan, that was a wonderful tribute to your baby girl! They are both amazingly beautiful!
- Happy belated birthday, Luna! I hope you had a great day! Licks, Your birthday-twin, Bella
- I love all the pictures that you take of your two baby girls. I love looking at them over and over. I always smile when looking at them. You take amazing pictures. Thanks for posting them for us all to enjoy!
