You guys probably all know that I’m not the only doggy that Mum takes photos of – she is a special doggy photographer and often takes photos of other doggies for their owners! Anyways, she had a shoot lined up with a lady and her Labrador dog for a really early morning session on the beach – my beach – the Spit. Mum told me that she wanted to ‘test the light’ (whatever that means) and use me as the ‘test subject’ so off we went to the beach one morning, really super early! Before the sun even got up!
When we got there, it was getting light but the moon was still up and the sky was a really deep blue. Mum said that it was perfect, because my full proper name is ‘Hildydane Luna Blue’ – which kind of means blue moon!

There were a few clouds on the horizon but when the sun finally came up above them, it was really pretty.

There was no one else there to start with, so we had the whole beach to ourselves!

Mum says that the light is really nice at this time in the morning. You can play around with it and take photos like the one above, where I am all dark, or you can do something different with the camera and take photos where I look normal, and everything else is really bright! This photo was taken about the same time as the one above, look at the difference! Mum says it’s to do with something called ‘exposure’ – but hey, that’s getting just a little too complicated for a doggy like me!

We moved up into the dunes for some more photos, it was time for me to get to work modelling! That’s how I earn my breakfast, apparently.

I like being high up in the dunes, cos you can look down on the beach and see everything that’s going on.

We saw a couple of surfers arrive.

Mum was really loving the light!

Finally I got to have a lie down and relax and look over my domain.

If you want to see the results of the shoot that Mum did with the lady and her Labrador, check them out on her blog!
Today Mum told me that she’s going to be away for a while, down to the place she calls Sydney. She’s going on one of those big loud bird things that we see way up in the sky when we go to the beach sometimes!
Anyways she’s going to be doing lots of ‘work’ when she is down there – I call it ‘work’ because it isn’t really proper work – she likes doing it to much for it to be proper hard work! Mum will be taking photos of a total of SIX doggies and then going to a show where there will be even more doggies than that – all Great Danes like me! Wish I could go too but I’m a bit big for her to smuggle in her bag.
Mum borrowed a bit of new photo-taking stuff – a big long white thing! – for her trip from her friend Catherine (who has just had a little baby, can’t wait to meet him) and wanted to do some practicing. If Kaya was still around she probably would have been better for the job, but I thought I better try my hardest at modelling anyway, even though I don’t like it much!
Mum really likes this shot but I can’t really understand why. She missed most of my face!

This one is much better.

Since I haven’t had anydog to play with, I’ve been playing with myself a lot. No toy is safe! Mum and Dad laugh at me a lot, I’m really good at throwing toys around and catching them again, I’ll have to get Mum to take some moving pictures of that so you can see my skills!

I decided I was doing a bit toooo good of a job at this modelling business (I don’t want to have to do it all the time) so I sabotaged the rest of the shots with a bit of crafty ear-styling.

Love and licks, Luna xxxooo
Mum was looking through some photos and came across some ones she had taken with a different kind of camera, when I was about six months old. A very old camera – so old, it doesn’t even plug into the computer and uses something called ‘film’!
I think the pics are a bit strange, they’re fuzzy and kinda brown and just show me sleeping. But I guess they are cool. Even if just because of the subject matter (me).

Mum told me there is a saying 'third time lucky' – so we decided to have one last go at doing some modelling shots. We decided to try and get some more natural, non-posed ones, so the first one, Mum caught me in mid-play.
Mum: "Ok Luna, probably not the best look actually. Can you just relax a bit? And try not letting your tongue hang out quite so much."
Mum: "Not bad! Now, we really need to do something about your ears. I know inside-out is the latest fashion, but it doesn't look great in photos, can you try and flip them out the right way for me?"
Luna: "Ummm ok Mum, how about if I just do a side profile? Then its only half as bad cos you can only see one ear?"
Mum: "No Luna, that's not really what I want. And watch that tongue! It's starting to slip around to the side and hang out more!"
Luna: "Mum, I really kinda like my ears up like this. The other doggies think it's cool! How about if I just pin them back a bit so you can't see them so much? Like this?"
Mum: "Oh Luna I just want your ears to look pretty! I don't care about the latest doggy fashion. Can you please please fix them up for me? And watch your tongue too!"
Luna: "Fine then, what if I flip my tongue to the other side, and just look more alert? Does that help?"
Mum: "ARRRGHHH LUNA!!! I give up!!"
