- Too cute... those ears are priceless:)
- Oh my goodness, this is adorable. I love it when our fur babies discover something and explore it with their paws like that!
Testing the Light
You guys probably all know that I’m not the only doggy that Mum takes photos of – she is a special doggy photographer and often takes photos of other doggies for their owners! Anyways, she had a shoot lined up with a lady and her Labrador dog for a really early morning session on the beach – my beach – the Spit. Mum told me that she wanted to ‘test the light’ (whatever that means) and use me as the ‘test subject’ so off we went to the beach one morning, really super early! Before the sun even got up!
When we got there, it was getting light but the moon was still up and the sky was a really deep blue. Mum said that it was perfect, because my full proper name is ‘Hildydane Luna Blue’ – which kind of means blue moon!

There were a few clouds on the horizon but when the sun finally came up above them, it was really pretty.

There was no one else there to start with, so we had the whole beach to ourselves!

Mum says that the light is really nice at this time in the morning. You can play around with it and take photos like the one above, where I am all dark, or you can do something different with the camera and take photos where I look normal, and everything else is really bright! This photo was taken about the same time as the one above, look at the difference! Mum says it’s to do with something called ‘exposure’ – but hey, that’s getting just a little too complicated for a doggy like me!

We moved up into the dunes for some more photos, it was time for me to get to work modelling! That’s how I earn my breakfast, apparently.

I like being high up in the dunes, cos you can look down on the beach and see everything that’s going on.

We saw a couple of surfers arrive.

Mum was really loving the light!

Finally I got to have a lie down and relax and look over my domain.

If you want to see the results of the shoot that Mum did with the lady and her Labrador, check them out on her blog!
- great pictures! you're so lucky to have such a pretty beach to go run and take pictures at! I wish we had something near to us like that to take Darwin to. You mom takes such great pictures!
- Luna, you have a real blue glow in those shots. Your mum is very clever and you make a wonderful model.
- love the bottom pic sis! great to get the moon pics in there
- Love the stylish new collar, Luna!
- What a pretty model you are Luna! I have always admired your mom's ability to get some really great pictures. My mom's camera thingy is not really very advanced, the only cool thing it does is take pictures underwater. Be sure and keep an eye on those surfers, you never know when someone might want a new surfer doggy, you could have tried a new sport. hehe love from Boxen and Bella
- Very nice these photos! Luna is a great model, wherever she is!
- Oh Luna you are always beautiful but I love the pictures that have your "blue" shadow on your sides. Absolutely gorgeous!
- It never fails to amaze me that the pictures you take are absolutely beautiful! Luna - you have such a pretty collar on! I really like the last picture of you!
- Charlotte, I forgot to tell you that I love the new header!
- Oww sweet friend, I so so sooo miss being there with you. Barking, chasing birds, splashing in the water and running a muck. Especially that fresh time of morning :)
New Friend at the Beach – Part 3
Loki was also there with her Dad. He had a sore leg, so he mostly stayed standing in the water cos it felt nice. I don’t blame him, I would stay in the water all day if I could! Here he is with Loki.

I think Loki was a bit scared of me to start with, but by the end of the day, she was playing with me heaps! I loved chasing her…

She could run really fast, and sprayed lots of sand up into my face! Ha – that’s usually what I do to other doggies when they chase me, so I suppose that’s fair.

Look, we’re matching again…

Once Loki decided she wanted to play properly, she was up for bitey chasey games – I love those games!

We look really angry with each other, but we’re just playing.

Body slams are fun too – need another big dog to do it with though.

Raaarrrr!

Yikes! Loki can look scary too when she wants to! I’m outa here!

Loki and me had heaps of fun playing together. Hopefully the next time we meet, she’ll want to play with me straight away, now that we are friends!
Oh by the way, Mum’s been meaning to do a post about going out to see the horsies, so hopefully that won’t be too far away. I get to go out with Mum when she goes riding now, it’s so fun and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Love and licks, Luna xoxo
- Loki looks like me when I play, evil dog my dads calls me...
- Looks like you had so much fun Luna!
- Haha! Eeeevil doggie faces! Looks like a great day with Loki! Wuv, Gus and Waldo
- We love to play just like that Luna! Body slams and chases and everything. Wish we could come play with you sometime but we are kinda far. Have fun playing with your new friend!
- Hello, I'm new to your site...found you through Honey. Love your pictures and your dogs are beautiful. I just love the beach photos and the water is just brilliant! Denise
- Haha.. What great fun !! Awesome photo's & wonderful storyline as always :o)
New Friend at the Beach – Part 2
I love it when I spot Great Danes at the beach who I already know! Like this guy – he’s usually always at the beach hanging out with his big brother (also a big black boy) but this time he was alone with just his Dad. Mum told me later that his big brother was now up in the same place Kaya is. I hope they found each other!
Anyway, I just luuurrrve boys and cos I already knew this one, we started playing right away! Ready, set…

Go!!!

He is a really big boy, he makes me look little! (ok, so I am pretty small for a Dane)

Then, another friend turned up! This time it was Zeta the harlequin Great Dane. We see her quite a bit at the beach with her little brother the English Pointer Zac. There was lots of chasing going on!

Argh! Help, I’m sandwiched!

The other two had to go, but me and Loki kept the game going – check out our matching flying ears!

That’s not all that we had matching. When we finished running around, Mum noticed that I had a slobber string on my nose!

How undignified! Oh well, at least Loki had a matching one. I closed my eyes and pretended I didn’t see it.

Then it was time to play again!

Stay tuned for an epic play session between me and my new friend Loki!
- Hi Lluna!!1! I had such a great time playing with you the other day - seems like weeks ago already. It was a great day to be a Great Dane, as they say down at Klub Kennel(slobber string required for entry)...I really look forward to going to the beach again and will do my beast to persuade Boss A and Boss B to drive my van down to Southport for another play. I love all the photos, even those without me in them - I hope we meet some more normal sized doggies on the beach again so we can all play together. Maybe we can get Ahliah sent up here in the mail so she can have a holidane on the beach. ^Oo^Loki
- Luna you are a peach, I adore you and miss you sissy so much
- Luna that looked like so much fun! I love to see pics of you playing on the beach... well I just love to see pics of you.
- We miss her too, Cheryl. :)
